What a Day/Week/Month/Year

3:32am.

We are entering the final phase of putting together the Blip Festival '06 Video Collection DVD. Between working all day on Push and editing all night for Blip, things have been pretty insane in recent memory. Paul (L) has been holed up in our apartment (Owens moved into Dave's old room on Saturday) for the past few days, slugging down Maker's Mark and mapping out the DVD navigation tree. I'm not sure he's actually slept...Oh no wait, there was one night where he supposedly got 8 hours (I've never seen him log more than 5 in one go)...Just typing about it makes my head spin.

In any case, save a few exceptional outings, I haven't had what I'd call much of A Life so I'm looking forward to having (at the very least), my weekends back. Kind of.

I really want to write more but our call time is in a few hours and I want to get at least two solid hours of sleep before going to work. I can't have a repeat of Friday, that's for sure.

Long story short: towards the end of a 16 hr day, I fell asleep and the producers grabbed my camera and filmed me passed out while my boss leaned over me and said, "On my dime! look at him! fuck you, Docu-boy. Fuck you." ::end scene::

yep.

oh, the pulsewave show was fun. if you missed the open mic, then you are a fool.

The "First" Transport Is Away

The Blip Festival documentary is officially on its way to compete for a coveted spot in next year's South By Southwest lineup. All we can do now is wait.

In other news:

The Behind The Scenes for Push has been in the works for a little over a month now. Principal Photography starts a week from tomorrow. Not too much to say on the matter (for a number of reasons) except to say that it is currently our highest hurdle in the race to finish all 32 videos for the Blip Fest 2007 performance DVD we plan on selling at this year's festival. To make a long story short, all I do now is edit.
Yesterday, after a full day of work, I sat down and cut away at YMCK for an hour two, passed out, woke up at 6am, and finished the rest before getting ready for work around 9. The good news? Owens and I have been turning them out at a pretty fast clip. In the last three days or so we've taken care of Neil Voss, YMCK, Bit Shifter, Herbert Weixelbaum, and an amazing, jaw dropping Jeroen Tel video that Owens seemingly pulled out of nowhere. There's one cut in there that will probably end up being my favorite moment from this entire project.

So yeah, that about sums things up for now I think. I'm told I might be seeing some more Natural Causes stuff next week. Fingers crossed.

Natural Causes: The Teaser

Just a taste:

Co-written/Co-directed by Alex Cannon/Michael Lerman/Paul Cannon, "Natural Causes" marks my first experience as Director of Photography on a feature length narrative film.
